It isn't the easiest of reads...you truly have to lose yourself in the world Stuart has created...

...but OH, what a world it is! Escape to Stuart's universe and see if you don't find yourself lost in the Karn Empire for awhile...far away from economic woes and threats of war and recession.

Novel Teen
Starfire was a completely surprising story. I would have never thought I’d like a story about dinosaur people. But Rathe is a fun character to read about. He is practical and tough and easy to relate to.

Stuart Vaughn Stockton has created a richly-imagined alien landscape and culture. He lets the setting unfold around the action and resists the urge to stop for information dumps. It’s a fascinating place, especially the vegetation: some plants float, others are harvested for indoor lighting, and there’s a moving forest that eats rocks.

Books I Recommend
The best sci-fi that I have read has always found a way to bring the reader between the pages into the reality of the tale. This is most certainly how I felt when I read Starfire. This is a great book to lose yourself in during any season, if you enjoy futuristic fiction.

I'm a sci-fi fan from way-back-when and I was intrigued when I heard about his book. I couldn't imagine how I'd relate to computer using dinosaurs, but it couldn't have been easier. Stockton's writing style transports the reader into the story. The characters were relatable without being stereotypical. The action and conflict kept me turning the computer pages!
